Today we
are going to show our capabilities through a previous client case. This client
is a small flower shop that focuses on high-quality, unique arrangements. Before
we consulted with them they had an Instagram account with a following of about
150 people. In just six months, and a few campaigns, they gained over 7,000
followers with increased interactions on all their posts.
What is Instagram?
Instagram is a widely popular social media platform designed for sharing photos and videos, allowing users to connect through visual content. We are
going to go through how we took a small flower shop from 150 to 7,000 followers
on Instagram in six months.
Data Analytics: The Secret to Success
We started
by gathering data on viewer and follower demographics that already existed. The
main pieces of data that we focused on were types of demographic data, ranging
from user location (within and outside of the United States) to time of access.
This data allows us to narrow down a window for content posting that will help
us impact the largest audience at a given time.
Above is a
graphic that shows us when their viewers were watching during the week. The
darker the purple the more viewers are watching at that hour. We can see that
Monday through Friday that most popular times are from 4-5pm, with Friday
starting a little bit earlier. Saturdays are a little more sporadic for them
but the most popular time seems to be 11am to 12pm. Sundays there seem to be a
lot of viewers online anytime from 12pm to 5pm. We then used this data to set
up their first social media campaign and used it to advise them on when they
should post in the future.
The Campaign
Our main
campaign was focused on user-generated content that would then turn into
content generated by the flower shop’s account. This increased interaction between
them and their viewers, and it also allowed them to show off their beautiful
arrangements.
We started
off by having the flower shop post a story asking “what is your favorite
flower?” with Instagram’s “Ask a question” feature on their stories. This
generated a few user answers with their favorite flowers. The next step was for
the flower shop to make an arrangement with those flowers and post a reel with
a trending audio on their Instagram. The flower shop then posted the video on
their story as a reply to their favorite flower entry. This triggered a
notification for the user that submitted the entry and they saw the post. This
made the followers of the account feel heard and interacted with which they
loved. Soon more people commented their favorite flowers unprompted hoping that
the flower shop would make an arrangement of them. Sales started to increase
online and in store. Local viewers were even coming in to purchase their
personalized arrangements.
